UMW WELCOMES T7 KILGOUR TO ITS HIGH VALUE MANUFACTURING PARK IN SERENDAH

SERENDAH, 2 February 2018 – UMW Development Sdn. Bhd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of the UMW Group, today welcomed T7 Kilgour Sdn. Bhd. to its pioneering UMW High Value Manufacturing Park in Serendah. Spread across 861 acres, the UMW High Value Manufacturing (HVM) Park will be the centrepiece of a landmark HVM ecosystem that upholds and implements the fundamental principles of Industry 4.0.

In November last year, UMW Aerospace Sdn. Bhd., an entity in the UMW Group, achieved a significant milestone by successfully delivering the first fan case for Rolls-Royce produced at its new manufacturing plant at the UMW High Value Manufacturing Park. Occupying twenty-four acres, the UMW Aerospace facility is the park’s first resident, setting the stage for the emergence of a new model of industrial development in Malaysia. It also acts as a key enabler in the planned HVM ecosystem.

The upcoming two-acre T7 Kilgour metal treatment plant is expected to be completed by the end of 2018. The proposed plant will carry out metal surface treatments, chemical processing, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), and coating applications to cater primarily for the aerospace industry. Through its plant at the UMW HVM Park, T7 Kilgour aims to pursue high value manufacturing in metal treatment.

UMW Development is fully-equipped to attract companies in the high technology and related sectors to occupy more than 800 acres of land at the UMW HVM Park. The targeted industries include aerospace, medical, automotive, rail and logistics. In this regard, the T7 Kilgour facility is expected to be an essential component of the park and will further act as a catalyst to draw in other high value investments.

To support the diverse requirements of the HVM industry players, UMW Development has established a Business Support Unit to facilitate investors setting up at UMW HWM Park for a seamless, organised and efficient process. This includes end-to-end facilitation for the business and its development cycle.

“HVM has been identified as the key enabler in elevating Malaysia’s industrial landscape, anchoring it on high technology, adaptability and innovation. We are focused on creating and developing a distinctively integrated HVM industrial park. The park is designed to be the future of HVM that fosters innovation. UMW High Value Manufacturing Park is now ready to welcome companies in the high technology sectors”, said Dr. Wafi Nazrin Abdul Hamid, President, UMW Development Sdn. Bhd.
