WORKOVER SERVICES
Workover is an operation that restores, stimulates and services existing wells to increase the production of hydrocarbons and improve the productivity of any reservoir. One of the ways to perform workover is through the use of a hydraulic workover unit.
UMW Petrodril (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (“UPSB”) owns and operates a fleet of versatile and flexible Hydraulic Workover Units (HWUs) which are well suited for working over wells located either on small satellite jackets or large integrated platforms.
Currently, UPSB owns four HWUs with 340,000 lbs and 460,000 lbs pulling capacities. These HWUs are constantly being upgraded to ensure efficiency, versatility and effectiveness.
Capable of performing a wide range of workover activities, HWUs are used for but are not limited to pulling and running completion strings, well cleaning, fishing, milling/retrieving production packers, running diagnostic and surveys, cementing, stimulation, sand control, gravel packing as well as plug and abandonment activities.
To date, UPSB’s project portfolio encompasses major workover campaigns for clients in Malaysia and in Asian countries such as Indonesia, Vietnam and India. Currently, two units are operating full time for PETRONAS Carigali in offshore Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia.
Warehouse Facilities
UPSB’s offshore operations are supported by Kemaman Supply Base, Terengganu (for Peninsular Malaysia operations) and Asian Supply Base, the Federal Territory of Labuan (for East Malaysia operations).
GULFDRILL 9 (GD 9) Workbarge
UPSB also provides Integrated Services that combine the Hydraulic Workover Unit (HWU), support workbarge, GULFDRILL 9 (GD 9) and pedestal platform cranes.
Formerly a tender rig assist barge, the GD9 was converted into an accommodation work barge in 2004 and can now support offshore drilling, workover or production operations.
