ASSB Assembly Services Sdn. Bhd. (ASSB), is the local assembler/manufacturer of Toyota passenger and commercial vehicles – Vios, Innova, Hiace, Hilux, Fortuner, as well as, Hino and Daihatsu commercial vehicles.
ASSB aligned itself with UMW Toyota Motor’s plans to make Vios its core model. It is focused on enhancing the model’s built quality and improving overall productivity. Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) continues to give its full support to market and manage the high demand for Toyota vehicles in Malaysia.
Production arrangements, takt time and manning levels are set to maximum capacity, targeted to produce 315 units per day exceeding the initial schedule set at 200 units. Cost cutting efforts were also intensified to reduce higher operating cost.
ASSB embarks on regular quality and improvement projects, backed by strong support from TMC. With TMC personnel visitations, ASSB has succeeded in improving quality and productivity in all of the plant’s operations such as the welding, paint shop, assembly line and logistic areas.
AISB
Automotive Industries Sendirian Berhad (“AISB”) is the leading original equipment manufacturer of exhaust systems for national and non-national car companies.
AISB is committed to R&D and a culture of excellence. Since 1985, AISB has a R&D partnership with Sankei Industry of Japan. It addition, AISB has implemented the Toyota Production System (TPS) initiatives to boost efficiency.
AISB continuously works towards becoming a world class manufacturer. It has initiatives and campaigns to achieve improvement in specific targeted areas. It aims for reduction in defects, reduction in customer complaints, minimizing downtime at customer’s base, excellent customer audit and internal audit, better human capital controls, smooth introduction/transition of new models, cost reduction, control and reduction of excess stock and minimizing accidents at the plant.
In its quest to attain world class manufacturer’s status, AISB has Operational Excellence Initiatives Campaign. AISB continuously conducts in-house quality tests on its exhaust components.
TBU
Toyota Boshoku UMW Sdn Bhd (“TBU”), formerly known as Takanishi SIM Sdn Bhd, is joint-venture with Toyota Boshuku Corporation, Japan.
TBU focuses on manufacturing and assembling high quality and cost-effective car seats, door trims and interior parts for all Toyota cars and Hino commercial vehicles assembled by ASSB using the Just-in-Time (JIT) method.
TBU’s strong commitment to quality brought about the recertification of ISO 14001:2004 in April 2006.
