We have effectively taken the model of ‘social networking’ to the next level; UMW has developed a functional ‘corporate networking’ environment through integrated hybrid data and VoIP technology. The project ‘Dunia UMW – A Virtual Walkthru’ first saw light at a preview unveiling by Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak at this year’s Minggu Saham Amanah Malaysia, held at Stadium Indra Mulia, Ipoh, Perak on 20 April.
Today, the door to this new age experience is open to the world. Dunia UMW was officially launched on 15th September 2011 at a special media extravaganza. The event graced by both Malaysian as well as the international media fraternity witnessed a video presentation highlighting key technology and functional capabilities of this new platform. Members of the press and media became the first group outside the Dunia UMW Project Team to have hands-on experience. The press were able to log into Dunia UMW via terminals at the event venue. Using Guest Avatars, they became the first visitors to enter Dunia UMW and interact vocally with our online Ambassadors. Guests were taken through a virtual guided tour of UMW’s Reception and a historic journey through our GaleriKu.
